Goal: Promoting cross-border durable solutions for Displaced Persons from Myanmar

Overall Objectives: To contribute to the facilitation of Displaced Persons from Myanmar access to durable solution outside of the camps (OG), through enhanced self-reliance and confidence in their capacity to access income generation for a better future outside of the camps (SG)

Specific objectives:

  • To increase opportunities of employ ability and confidence of displaced persons from Myanmar through activities and integrated support package of training, mentor ship and cross-border exposure.

  • To provide income-generation and basic services opportunities to displaced persons in temporary shelters.

  • To foster sustainable income-generation opportunities for returnees and promote success stories in the temporary shelters.

Activities:

  • Conduct a rapid assessment for targeted income generation opportunities in the temporary shelters and in Kayah State to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on labor demand

  • Revise and/or develop five advanced vocational training curricula

  • Construct/Rehabilitate VT classroom and adapt/maintain them.

  • Provide regular capacity building (ToT) to camp-based VT trainers in line with OVEC, DTVET and NESD advanced course standards

  • Adapt and maintain vocational training facilities and equipment to match the requirements of the higher-level curricula

  • Provide VT course of 150 hours, in additional to 50 hours of life skills, including employ ability and career guidance, and 75 hours of BDE training to camp residents with the support of Thai VT colleagues and VT trainees from the camps.

  • Job-market assessment in return areas.

  • Provide career guidance to VT and high school graduates

  • Conduct information sessions to camp residents on existing livelihood opportunities in return areas

  • Organisation of job and livelihoods fairs and of events to promote VT and NFE

  • Assess training needs and design and conduct capacity building sessions for Camp Committees and livelihood CBOs

  • Networking with livelihood stakeholders active in return areas.

  • Facilitate exchanges among Thai and Myanmar VT colleges in border areas, LCCs and CBOs to facilitate the standardization and co-certification of training curricula.

  • Pilot a staged transition of VT activities towards VT centers and implement income-generation strategies to sustain the centers
